Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2024 – My Haul Picks

Happy Friday! I shopped the Nordstrom Sale earlier this week and have swatches of my beauty haul picks. Here are the beauty sets I picked up. Also since a lot of the sets this year are discounted bundles of permanent items I swatched a few more of the sets since I already own a lot of the colors.

Hourglass Golden Rose Ambient Lighting Palette

The Hourglass Golden Rose Ambient Lighting Palette ($64) is probably my favorite thing I picked out, although not a must-have if already own a lot of palettes from Hourglass. The shades include Celestial Strobe Light (shimmery champagne), Iridescent Rose Blush (medium rose), Dim Infusion Blush (soft coral) and Golden Bronze Light (soft bronze). I think all the colors have been in at least one palette before, but I love the combination and think this is a pretty one.

The Sculpt and Gloss Set ($45) has two permanent colors of the Phantom Glossy Balm in Mist and Sculpt Lip Liner in Flaunt. The colors are really pretty. I’m still not the biggest fan of the lip liner formula, but the color is good. (Review + swatches of the formula in this post here). The duo set is offered at a nice discount for the sale. I already own both shades but I swatched them for you. I’m wearing both below.

NSALE 2024 Lip Sets

There are lots of lip sets offered during the sale. If you’ve had your eye on any or need to restock I think this is a great time to try one. Otherwise I’d say wait until holiday since all the colors in these sets are permanent and there will most likely be some more interesting options come fall.

YSL Loveshine Lip Duo ($60) has two shades Shade 44 Nude Lavalliere and 150 Nude Lingerie. These are permanent shades. In case you haven’t kept up with the YSL Beauty launches, the Loveshine formula replaced the Rouge Volupte Shine formula this year. Full review + swatches here.

Tom Ford Beauty Luxe Gloss Duo ($90) is a beautiful duo of neutrals in Inhibition (beige tan) and Sunrise Pink (soft rose). Both are permanent and since I used mine up quite some time ago I thought it would be nice to restock and buy these. They’re glossy, lush and moisturizing.

Trish McEvoy Lip Trio ($60) has three beautiful wearable pinks. I don’t think this is actually part of the Anniversary Sale but it a new set and it was displayed with all the other NSALE Beauty Exclusives. Either way I’m glad I picked it up. It has a Lipstick in Perfect Pink (soft bright cool pink), Easy Lip Gloss in Babe (creamy powdery pink) and Long-Wear Lip Liner in Barely There (neutral nude). The kit has shades I can see myself wearing on a regular basis. I love the consistency and pigment.

NARS Afterglow Sensual Shine Duo ($45) has full-size lipsticks in Dolce Vita (soft rose) and Devotion (beige nude). I love this formula and have already used up Dolce Vita. Both have a very comfortable feel one lips. Perfect amount of color and shine. This is one of my favorite lip formulas.

Westman Atelier Sets

I shared a look at the Westman Atelier Sets earlier and added swatches. All the shades are permanent. For those who love that glossy glass skin or dewy look you will love these. The Summer Bronze Trio ($115, PR gifted) has full sizes of Lit Up Stick in Nectar, Baby Cheeks in Dou Dou and the Liquid Super Loaded Illuminator in Peau de Soleil.

I love the Lit Up Stick and Baby Cheeks. The Liquid Super Loaded is too dewy for my taste even if I mix in with a moisturizer, but it performs exactly as described and I know a lot of you love it.

The Petite Lit Up Stick Duo ($40) has two permanent shades in Brulee and Nectar. Love these for travel or to pop in the purse for touch ups on the go.

Eye Bundle Sets

There are lots of eye bundles with permanent shades. The Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Cream Shadow Stick Trio ($54) has Shell, Moonstone and Smokey Topaz. The Laura Mercier Effortless Eyes Trio ($60) has Burnished Bronze, Dune and Rosegold. A number of you messaged me you wished they launched new colors for the sale instead of offering the same repeated shades every single year. I 100% agree with you. I’ve swatched these anyways in case you don’t have access to these in person.

Charlotte Tilbury Sets

Charlotte Tilbury has bundles of permanent best sellers. I picked up the Charlotte Tilbury Blush & Glow Glide Set ($88) which has Pillow Talk Highlighter, Pillow Talk Matte Blush and Pinkgasm as a gift. I’ve added swatches of a few more items for comparison/reference.

The Pillow Talk Lip Kit ($65) has the Lip Cheat, Lip Blur and Matte Revolution in Pillow Talk. I do think the Lip Liner and Matte Revolution are staples. I’m not a big fan of the Lip Blur Formula, it feels like it just sits on the lips and it’s not transfer proof at all. I didn’t pick up this set as I already own the individual items but I swatched them in case you haven’t tried all 3 yet.

I’ve been using the Magic Cream a lot lately and used up two jars in the past year so I picked up the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream Face & Body Duo ($90) since I wanted to replenish them.

Fragrance Sets

The Byredo Les Triples Set ($95) is the same as last year. The bottles are super cute but they don’t come with atomizer spritzers. If you don’t mind the dabber style, these are nice. I prefer the Atomizer Spray Trios like this one or this one instead, although the glass isn’t as thick or sturdy as the bottles. They do make separate leather cases to hold the atomizers but they are fairly expensive. Full size vs minis for comparison below.

I was SO close to buying the Parfums de Marly Fragrance Trio ($435) with miniatures of Delina, Delina La Rosee and Delina Exclusif. I’m not really a rose fragrance fan but after trying the discovery set earlier this year I fell in love with all 3 (I like La Rosee the best). It’s actually still in my online shopping cart, but I already own so many perfumes I decided to pass (for now).

Tools and Devices

Last but not least, I picked up the NuFace Trinity+ Starter Kit ($265). It’s been on my radar and the sale price seemed pretty good. I haven’t tried it yet but am really excited to (I used to own the older version). My face definitely needs some toning and I have high hopes this will help.

Another tool I recommend on sale is the ghd Platinum Plus Styler. It’s a straightener but I also use it to curl my hair. It’s on sale now and I still use it all the time. You can see it in action here.

I went on the Ambassador Access day and by the time I was in store nearly everything on my clothes, shoes and accessories wishlist had sold out in my size (or sold out completely). I did pick up two Barefoot Dreams Blankets in the Checks and Stripes Pattern and CozyChic Blanket in Pearl. I love having fresh new ones on hand.

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2024 – First Look

The Nordstrom Anniversary sale starts this week with early access for cardmembers. They launched an online preview of this event and I’ve rounded up the highlights for their Beauty Exclusives, clothes, accessories and more.

The Anniversary Sale happens once a year. Nordstrom Cardmembers have early access depending on what tier you are. Access dates are as follows starting July 9th this week:

There are a lot of options available and since things tend to sell out quickly I recommend going through each category that interests you and start building a wishlist. There’s an “Add to Wish List” button on each individual product page. Simply click the heart icon and it will save it to your Wishlist Page in your account. That way when your access date starts you can easily add things to cart.

For my beauty lovers there are lots of NSALE Beauty Exclusives. I’ve shopped the sale every single year and over the years they’ve seemed to shift the offering themes to discounted bundles and value sets (or sizes) vs. new exclusive colors or things you can only find during the sale.

I went through every category and still found quite a few things to put on my wishlist. There are a lot of luxury brands that have value sets I think are worth checking out, especially if you’ve had something like La Mer, Parfums de Marly, Armani Beauty, Jo Malone, Augustinus Bader, Oribe etc. on your radar.

Whether you’re shopping in store or online, be sure to check out the GIFT WITH PURCHASE page! Once the sale starts Nordstrom updates this page regularly. They don’t always have all the gifts in store (some are online only) and even in store in the associates don’t always know about brand specific GWPs.

Quick update: Special shoutout for the Eric Javits Hamptons Hats as I get a lot of questions about them. They are on the expensive side but are very sturdy. They’ve lasted so well even with pool and salt water (I just make sure I rinse them with fresh water if they ever get wet). The weave is thick enough that it does protect your face from the sun. I also love that they’re floppy but not so floppy they end up covering your eyes (if that makes sense). They have a lot of different styles and brim sizes too. Their visors are nice but I prefer the full coverage hats. For those who want to know about the different colors I’ll repost a photo I shared a few years ago. (Andrew actually picked out the hats for me!)

I have one tote from them the Squishee Isla Straw Bag and I really love it (I also think this colorway is pretty). I think I may get another style.

This is a pretty large list but I’ve split it by category for face, eyes and lips. Here are the best things in makeup I’ve tried in each category.

Base Makeup Favorites

Best Primer – Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base is a great multi-tasking moisturizer and primer in one, wears really well under makeup and a formula I’ve repurchased numerous times

Best Glowy Primer – Tie between Dior Forever Glow Star Filter and Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter. I think the thinner texture of the Dior Forever Glow Star Filter makes it easier to wear all over the face if you layer on foundation + concealer etc. The Charlotte Tilbury is still a classic I think I will be using forever though

Best Tint Moisturizer – Rare Beauty Positive Light Tinted Moisturizer – I love this sheer Tinted Moisturizer with SPF 20 because it’s not too dewy. Has sheer to medium coverage that isn’t too sheer. I wear 24N.

Best Tint with SPF – Supergoop! Protec(tint) SPF 50 – This is another great skin tint with sheer medium coverage and high SPF. Has sheer coverage and great lasting power. I have 24N and 26W.

Best Natural Looking Tint – Fenty Eaze Drop Blurring Skin Tint – This is a great no-fuss skin tint without SPF. Coverage is similar to the Rare Beauty, just slightly more coverage. Looks very natural and sets beautifully. I wear Shade 9 or 10.

Best Medium Coverage Glowy Foundation – Armani Luminous Silk Foundation – Best medium coverage glow foundation I’ve used. I wear Shade 6.5.

Best CC Cream – It Cosmetics CC+ Nude Glow – Best CC+ Cream with medium coverage and a natural glow. I wear Medium Tan.

Best Foundation Stick – Westman Atelier Vital Skin Foundation Stick – My go-to foundation stick perfect for everyday, and also really convenient for travel. Depending on how tan I am, I wear Shade V, VI or VII.

Favorite Classic Finish Foundation – Pat McGrath Sublime Perfection Foundation – Another classic formula you can’t go wrong with. Love this for an everyday staple. My match is Light Medium 14.

Great for Travel – Patrick Ta Major Skin Creme Foundation Powder Duo has a great natural looking finish for both the foundation and powder, I use the Shade Light Medium 2.

Best Concealers

Best Brightening Concealer – YSL Touche Eclat hands down is the best of the best. I use Shade 3.

Best Medium-Coverage – NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer (Macadamia or Ginger) is a cult classic and even to this day still is the best creamy under eye formula for me. I also still really like the Givenchy Prisme Libre Skin-Caring Concealer for a creamier finish and a little more coverage.

Best Full Coverage – Natasha Denona Hy-Glam Concealer is the best of the BEST for concealers. It’s creamy, opaque, easy to blend, long lasting and does not crease. I wear N6, 7, 8 or 9 depending on how much I want to match or brighten. The Armani Luminous Silk Concealer is another great option, I wear 6.5 or 7.

Best Powders & Setting Products

Best Setting Spray – Two way tie between the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray and Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray.

Best Pressed Powder – Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish in Medium or the NARS Light Reflecting Pressed Powder

The best eyeshadow palettes and formulas are from Natasha Denona, Too Faced and Pat McGrath. Here are my favorites right now.

Best Eyeshadow Formula – Natasha Denona I Need a Nude, Glam or My Dream Palette for her larger options, for the minis I love the Mini Starlette or Mini Biba.

Best Everyday Palettes – Too Faced Born This Way Natural Nudes or Sunset Stripped are in heavy rotation and have been for years! I really love the new mini Born This Way Palettes too.

Best Mix of Matte + Shimmers – Pat McGrath is quite the splurge and some of her sparkles are really glitzy but I love them.

Best All Matte Palette – Makeup By Mario Master Mattes is the best all-matte eyeshadow palette for me.

My top three gloss formulas are the Pat McGrath LUST Gloss, Fenty Gloss Bomb and Dior Addict Lip Maximizers.

I also really love the Refy Lip Glosses (they have great neutrals), Charlotte Tilbury Collagen Lip Bath (new shades added!) and the new Huda Faux Filler Gloss (swatched here).

If you like a jelly gloss the new Armani Prisma Glass lip gloss is a nice sheer formula. I swatched 3 of the colors here.

Best Lipliners

There are so many good lip liner formulas these days. My top 5 favorites are below.

Huda Beauty Lip Contour 2.0 ($21, color Pinky Brown shown) has the best long-wear lip liner formula. They glide on with full coverage pigment and I love that they’re packaged in a twist up format with a removeable sharpener at the base. My favorite shades are Pinky Brown, Terracotta, Honey Beige and Sandy Beige.

Pat McGrath Permagel Ultra Lip Pencil ($29, color Structure shown) is another great formula with the best colors. Structure is the perfect neutral brown, Nude Venus is a perfect peachy nude, Buff is the best nude pink.

Make Up For Ever Artist Color Pencil ($22, Wherever Walnut shown) is another great classic pencil. The formula can be used on eyes, brows and lips – they are easy to blend with a matte finish. Wherever Walnut seems to be the most popular color, but I also really love Up & Down Tan and Anywhere Caffeine. They launched a really cute Mini Artist Pencil Set ($35) which has their best-selling shades.

Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat ($25, Pillow Talk shown) is my most-worn lip pencil. Pillow Talk is my lips but better shade. I also love Pillow Talk Medium and Iconic Nude.

Sephora Collection Lip Liner To Go ($6, Light Brown shown) is a mini lip pencil perfectly sized for the smallest clutch or pouch. I have a couple colors and Light Brown is my favorite everyday neutral.

Best Lipstick Formulas

Sephora carries so many great lipsticks. Narrowing down my top 5 was really hard as I can list at least a dozen formulas I think are excellent. Here are the best ones I reach for the most.

Armani Lip Power ($45 each, Shade 109 shown) is one of the best creamy opaque smooth lipstick formulas I’ve tried. There are lots of great colors but 109 is the best everyday pink in my opinion. They also launched this in a Matte Formula too (lots of great nudes, I love Shade 111 Matte).

NARS Afterglow Sensual Shine Hydrating Lipstick ($32, Orgasm shown) is my favorite formula for a shine lipstick. Pigment is impressive for a shine formula. They have a comfortable hydrating feel that feels like a balm. My favorites are Orgasm which is a peach pink gold, Breathless a beige nude and Dolce Vita which is a classic rose.

Gucci Care Glow and Shine Lipstick ($47, Sally Soft Honey shown) is another great shine lipstick formula. Pigment is very good with these and I love the glossy finish. Sally Soft Honey is the best everyday pinky nude. Call It a Day is the best mauve (great for fall). I also love Julie Blush for a bright peachy shade.

Pat McGrath MatteTrance Lipstick ($39, Nude Venus shown) is hands down the best matte lipstick formula I’ve tried. It’s smooth, opaque, doesn’t look dry on the lips and the color selection is outstanding. They have a good range of neutrals, reds, bolds, browns – my top 3 shades are Nude Venus (peachy nude), Christy (pink nude) and Divine Rose (rose pink).

YSL Rouge Pure Couture Caring Satin Lipstick ($45, N5 Tribute Nude shown) is a new formula and after trying a few shades I have to say I am REALLY impressed. It has an ultra smooth formula that glides on the lips with absolute perfection. I’ll have a full review on the shades I picked up soon.

Best Liquid Lipstick Formulas

Gucci Transfer-Proof Matte Liquid Lipstick ($47, Grace Cinnamon) is a beautiful formula. Grace Cinnamon is the perfect nude pink shade with smooth coverage and a super lightweight texture.

Urban Decay Vice Lip Bond Glossy Longwear Liquid Lipstick ($27, OG Backtalk shown) is the best long-wear liquid lipstick in the sense that once it sets it does not budge or transfer. OG Backtalk is a really pretty mauve. I also think Text Em is the best rose pink shade ever made.

Tom Ford Lip Luxe Matte ($59, Naked Haze shown) is another exceptional formula. I’ve only tried one shade in Naked Haze which is a great everyday nude pink. I plan on picking up one or two more during the Sephora Savings Event. Texture is lightweight and coverage is smooth and really good.

Dior Rouge Dior Forever Transfer Liquid ($45, Shade 100 Forever Nude) is another great long-wear formula that is also transfer proof. I have this in a couple shades and they really do stay put without transferring. Shade 100 Forever Nude is perfection.

Sephora Collection Cream Lip Stain Liquid Lipstick ($15, Shade 70 First Date shown) is a budget-friendly Liquid Lipstick with an impressive color selection. Formula is full coverage with a creamy satin finish. I love that these feel super lightweight on the lips and they don’t look dry. All Sephora Collection items are 30% off during the Sephora Savings Event.

Top 5 Lip Glosses

I’m 100% a lip gloss girl at heart. Here are the best top 5 formulas I reach for the most.

Lawless Forget the Filler ($26, Cherry Vanilla shown) is the best smoothing lip gloss that plumps without any tingle. I like the darker/bolder shades for a lush lip look. They are on the thicker side but I love the finish. Cherry Vanilla is the best sheer red I’ve ever tried. Juicy Watermelon is the prettiest bright pink. They also launched a few shades in a Jumbo Size ($38 each) and for holiday they have a cute Mini Dreamy Darlings Plumper Set ($27).

Dior Addict Lip Maximizer Plumping Gloss ($40, 12 Rosewood shown) is my most-worn lip gloss formula for the color and texture. I splurged on nearly all of the shades and can easily say they were 100% worth the splurge.

Fenty Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer ($21, Fenty Glow shown) is another favorite. It’s been a favorite since the day they launched Fenty Glow. Every color is wearable and super flattering. I love the smooth texture and shine. I think every color is a must-have.

Pat McGrath LUST Gloss ($29, Nude Venus shown) is another great smooth texture gloss. Nude Venus is the best peachy pink color with pretty good coverage. Flesh Fantasy is a pretty beige pink. Divine Rose is a stunning plum pink.

Bobbi Brown Crushed Oil-Infused Gloss ($33, In the Buff Shown) offers hydration, color and shine in one. Finish is very comfortable and they are great for vacation (or beach) no-makeup days where you want a little bit of color to look polished.

Most-Worn Tinted Balms/Sheer Lips/Oils

Last we have a look at the best tinted balms. A lot of these double as sheer lipsticks.

Tarte Maracuja Juicy Lip Plump ($24, White Peach shown) is a formula I always have in my bag. Every single color they’ve launched is super wearable. They’re smooth in finish and I love how they feel on the lips. During the holiday season they have a lot of great value sets and limited-edition shades. If you’re a fan of the Maracuja Lip formula definitely check out the 2023 Best of Maracuja Juicy Lips Set.

Summer Fridays Lip Butter ($24, Vanilla Beige shown) is another formula I carry in every single purse. I also have the clear one on my night stand. Each shade has a different scent to match the color name but they aren’t overpowering. Love the cute Mini Lip Butter Set too which I think would make a super cute gift.

Kosas Wet Lip Oil ($22, Revealed shown) is one of my favorite tinted lip oil formulas. It actually doesn’t feel thick like you’d expect from an oil. Every single shade is beautiful. The one I get asked about the most is Revealed which I’m wearing in this post.

Last but not least, I really love the YSL Rouge Volupte Shine ($43, Shade 162 shown) and YSL Candy Glaze Lip Gloss Stick ($39, 15 Showcasing Nude in hand, 13 Flashing Rose in background). Both have a balm-like formula. The Rouge Volute Shine has more slip with a sheer glossy finish while the Candy Glaze is thicker and feels like a jelly finish. Both are really phenomenal for formula and color.
